For some observers of the legal scene, the lawsuit against sunscreen manufacturers now pending in California may seem an example of litigation run amok. After all, none of the plaintiffs has spent more than pocket money for sunscreen and none is alleging medical damages from the product. But Samuel Rudman, one of the plaintiffs’ lawyers in the case, calls it “a perfect class action” because it stands to provide relief where he says the political process has failed.
