Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Sam Rayburn was cited for leaving the scene of an accident after he walked away from a car accident early Tuesday. Rayburn was released from a hospital after being treated for a head laceration sustained in the accident. The accident occurred when Rayburn turned in front of an oncoming vehicle, said Inspector William Colarulo. Rayburn then left his black Cadillac Escalade parked in front of a nearby store and flagged down officers a few blocks away. He may have been disoriented because of his head injury, Colarulo said. Rayburn’s status for Philadelphia’s game at Dallas on Monday night is uncertain. He was treated by team physicians at Pennsylvania Hospital following the accident. A second-year pro from Tulsa, Rayburn leads all defensive tackles with five sacks this season. He has become a valuable member of the Eagles’ defensive line after earning a roster spot as a rookie free agent last season. Rayburn signed a five-year, $6 million contract extension over the weekend, including a $1.3 million signing bonus. Source : usatoday.com |
